I got back to Adam and Ryan’s around two in the morning. I watched a few episodes of the cartoon Home Movies and went to sleep.
You didn’t think I’d actually leave out what happened at Adam & Ryan’s on the weekend did you?!
I woke up at 9:30 on Saturday morning with the sunlight streaming in. Unfortunately this is a luxury for me as I don’t get the same treatment in my own underground cavern. Only a few adventurous photons are able to make it, just enough to alert me to the fact that it is indeed daytime.
First Pops, Manny, and I went outside to the back patio. Pops decided it was too cold out so he went back inside but Manny decided to spend as much time as possible eating a dead plant. I told Manny to stop because it was going to make him throw up. He wouldn’t listen so things had to get physical, I picked him up and took him inside but not before snapping this photo of Manny licking his chops with approval.

Check out that time stamp. Makes me laugh every time.
With everyone back in the house it was time for a little reading. I finished reading Life by Keith Richards. It’s a pretty compelling account from cover to cover and I’d recommend it to anyone who is interested in reading about Keith Richards’ life.
Sure enough Manny threw up, I’m not sure if it was related to the dead plant or not, I heard a rumor he likes to puke. I decided to let the vomit dry a little so it would be easier to clean. What’s strange is when I returned to the nice little gift is that half of it was gone. I tried to talk to Manny about how if you love something you need to let it free…
After that I left to go meet my friend Craig at Milk Bar, a local coffee shop. Milk Bar had the sanitation rating of C. It seemed perfectly clean to me, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. After Milk Bar Craig and I headed to Manhattan in search of a 3 volume LP set, a collection of Raymond Scott’s Manhattan Research Inc recordings. This mission lasted well into the evening and was a complete success.
I need to correct an error from the Friday Night is Alright to Fly a Kite post. The toy I described as “a wand and some feathers connected via yellow string” is not entirely accurate. It’s a black wand connected to yellow feathers via green string. My bad for not researching (looking at the toy) more thoroughly.
Hey everyone, I am so damn sorry for not updating this as much as I had intended. Here’s what you missed:
Saturday was a nice day.
Sunday was pretty cool too.
Now it’s Tuesday.
What’s Up Tumblr?
On Friday I went to see Who Is Bozo Texino? at the MOMA. It’s an awesome experimental documentary made by Bill Daniel about the graffiti-signatures left behind by people riding the rails. After that I grabbed some Korean food with the folks I was with. At dinner I realized how the sanitation grade of a restaurant really skews how I feel about the food. Restaurants will only be judged by their covers from now on.
I got to Adam and Ryan’s around midnight, that’s when things got low key. I decided to take it easy and watch a movie. I was looking through their DVD collection and picked the movie Road Trip. Did you know that Todd Philips also directed a documentary about Phish? And I’m not just misspelling the name of that animal that swims underwater, I’m talking about the band.
Manny and Pops chased each other around the apartment for a while and then just sat there looking at me. I got out their favorite toy, which is a wand and some feathers connected via yellow string. Manny figured he’d be a spectator this time around and let Pops practice his acrobatics. Pops really impressed me and Manny.
Okay, I’ll talk to you soon.
Dear Diary,
My name is Casey and today I start house sitting for my friends Adam and Ryan. They have an apartment in Brooklyn with two cats, Pops and Manny. I’ve been told that Pops is both shy and stupid but that’s okay with me, I think we’re going to be good friends!
In addition to looking after the cats I’m supposed to take care of the apartment. You know what I mean? Like make sure the doors are locked and that the apartment is kept secret and safe.
They’ve been really great hosts so far, Ryan gave me a tour of the apartment. She told me to make myself at home. Adam made me a list of good restaurants that are nearby and he even rented a movie for me on Netflix.
Whelp Diary, that’s all for now. There is more to come, catch ya on the flip side!
